Ham the Astro Chimp by jellibat on Flickr.
crochet project from 2008 HAM is my tribute to the first hominid to be launched into outer space. On January 31, 1961, Ham was secured in a Project Mercury capsule and launched into outer space for a flight which was 16 minutes and 39 seconds long. during which he performed a task which he had been trained for by way of shock or reward of pushing a button. Ham arrived back on earth relatively unharmed, he had bruised his nose. He lived the rest of his life out in a zoo.
